Complete the Data Return

What is the data return?

Accountable to the Department for Education (DfE) through Arts Council England (ACE), as Lead Organisation of the Suffolk Music Education Hub, Suffolk County Music Service (SCMS) is required annually to collect data relating to musical activity in all Suffolk schools, whether or not provided by the SCMS, and to submit a data return to ACE.

We ask all schools to supply us with data particular to your school so we can include this in the overall Suffolk submission.

The data and information Suffolk provides is used by the Arts Council and the Department for Education to monitor how Music Education Hubs are supporting the achievement of the National Plan for Music Education.

Why does a return have to be submitted?

  • The national funding received is essential to support Suffolk's children and young people's access to music in and out of school.
  • All Music Education Hubs in England are required to submit a return so ACE can check whether or not Hubs and Services are fulfilling the requirements to receive funding.
  • Data and information is used to help measure the impact of the investment made in Music Education Hubs and equality of access.
  • ACE also uses this information to identify trends and areas where further support for hubs could be offered.

How is the data used?

The data is used by ACE and the DfE to track both the national delivery of the aims of the National Plan for Music Education and the development of Music Education Hubs.

Data and information submitted will be used to produce an annual report. Results will be presented at a national, regional and local level. Please be assured that the data you provide will be aggregated and no individual school or pupil will be identifiable in the annual report.
