This is how 3,500 primary school pupils have a fiesta!

3500 Suffolk primary school pupils will join together for the County Music Service’s annual Music Festival between Monday 17 June and Friday 21 June.

Taking place across 15 concerts, pupils will take a musical journey to Latin America as they play and sing music arranged especially for the brass, percussion, string and woodwind instruments they’ve been learning since September.

Each fiesta brings together schools to play and sing together in front of an invited audience of family and friends.

David Stowe, Head of Suffolk County Music Service, said:

“We’re delighted to present 3,500 children from across Suffolk to perform in this major celebration of schools’ music making.

The week of concerts brings children and their teachers together in 11 locations including iconic venues The Apex, Bury St Edmunds; Trinity Park, Ipswich; and The Cut, Halesworth; as the culmination of another year of musical studies under the inspirational leadership of their Suffolk County Music Service tutors.”

The Whole Class Ensemble Tuition programme (WCET) is a key part of the Government’s National Plan for Music Education to ensure:

“every child aged 5-18 has the opportunity to learn a musical instrument through whole-class ensemble teaching programmes that provide a weekly lesson on the same instrument for a full school year”
